    Hey, Andrejs!
Each year we drive through nearly each Europe – from Latvia to Greece using Tom Tom. I am not very experienced navigation user as I use it just once a year when we go on above mentioned trip. I wanted to check for your advice on the following – when you go on a long journey do you put the final destination at the beginning of your trip? The thing is that I was suggested not to do so (just not sure why?). I was told to look in the map and add the biggest cities on the road as destination one by one. Meaning when you are about 40 minutes drive from the previous big city, just add the next one as destination. What is your suggestion?
In general, I am satisfied with Tom Tom navigation even though I am not a frequent user.

Hi Arta! Thanks for interest and question! I’ll answer more detailed in a couple of days as hate typing long on my iPhone. Left my MacBook at home to take a rest some five days. See ya later!

So I am back from the small vacation trip to Estonian Islands Saaremaa and Hiiumaa.
In short, enjoyed an excellent holiday and met hospitable people.
Regarding your question about tips how to use GPS for cars in long trips. My experience is as you wrote dividing voyage to many parts. From the beginning make a general route e.g. Riga (LV) to Venice (It).
More convenient is use one of the numerous online sites like Viamichelin.com. After, depending on your onboard GPS navigation device (better at least two independent devices), store stopovers to not wasting time later.
I assume that you or someone of passengers has a smartphone and recommend to load free app Maps.me from App Store or Google Play. It is free, works offline just need to download countries you about to visit and enjoy.
I used it on my last trip and can say just the best words. Great free application. Yes, maybe fewer options as other paid navigation tools but fulfill all necessary navigation for car functions including voice commands. Recommend.
This is my very short answer to your question. You gave me an idea to write the post how I am using GPS navigation for cars.
I will, just after another travel to Spain which is just around the corner.
      See you later!
